Xtracycle’s story starts with founder Ross Evans, a Stanford engineer and passionate cyclist who asked a simple question: “What if a bike could carry everything I needed?”
His early experiments led to the FreeRadical — a bolt-on frame extension that transformed a regular bike into a cargo hauler. It was lightweight, affordable, and instantly became a favorite among adventure cyclists and eco-commuters.
That modular idea evolved into complete bikes like the Edgerunner, and eventually, a line of electric-assist cargo bikes that redefined modern urban mobility.
Xtracycle has spent over two decades refining their mission:
To empower people and communities to ride more, drive less, and live connected lives.
Their commitment to social impact, sustainability, and engineering integrity has made them a standout brand in the e-mobility revolution — a pioneer whose vision shaped how the rest of the industry followed.
