What Allied Cycle Works Makes
Allied’s current range consists of four carbon platforms, each with complete-bike and frameset choices.
- ECHO: A road-first all-road bike with clearance for tires up to 700×45mm, an integrated cockpit, and support for wireless 1× or 2× drivetrains.
- ABLE: A 1× gravel race bike designed around tires measuring 45 to 57mm wide, with UDH compatibility, internal storage, and provisions for a dropper post or gravel suspension fork.
- BC40: A 29-inch cross-country race bike with 120mm front and rear travel and clearance for 29×2.4-inch tires.
- FITZ: A lightweight 29-inch trail bike with 140mm travel, long-dropper compatibility, internal storage, a UDH mount, and a post-mount rear brake interface.
- Framesets and custom builds: Each primary platform is offered as a frameset and in multiple component configurations, with paint and selected equipment choices made during ordering.
- Replacement parts and accessories: Allied maintains model-specific hardware, cockpit components, apparel, and selected service parts.
Custom Paint, Production Geometry
Allied’s customization program is meaningful, but it should not be confused with a fully custom frame. Buyers select from published frame sizes and geometry, then personalize paint and equipment around that chassis. Allied’s fit team can compare rider measurements and current-bike geometry to recommend a size, but the frame dimensions themselves are not individually drawn for each customer.
Custom paint is one of the brand’s clearest differentiators. Standard color and logo combinations are supplemented by a paid custom program with broader color and design choices. More elaborate finishes increase the cost and may affect delivery time, so the design, price, and expected completion date should be settled before the order is finalized.
Allied is also more transparent than many brands about its current production arrangement. The company states that carbon layup and molding for the new ABLE and BC40 occur at partner factories in Asia. Those frames are subsequently inspected, prepared, painted, assembled, and test-ridden by Allied’s Arkansas operation. Some aluminum components are manufactured in-house. Buyers should therefore avoid assuming that every current Allied frame is molded entirely in the United States.
What to Know Before Buying
The ABLE has several important limitations hidden behind its broad tire clearance. It is strictly a 1× platform and is intended for wireless electronic drivetrains. Allied recommends no tire narrower than 45mm because a smaller casing lowers the bottom bracket and increases pedal-strike risk. The 57mm maximum refers to actual measured width, not merely the number printed on a tire’s sidewall.
ECHO also emphasizes wireless drivetrains and full internal routing. Its integrated cockpit produces a clean front end, but handlebar width, stem length, routing, and future fit changes deserve more attention than they would on a bicycle with separate conventional controls. The ABLE can be ordered with an externally routed fork and standard-stem compatibility, which is worth considering if service access or frequent fit changes matter more than complete integration.
The BC40 uses model-specific suspension hardware, pivots, and frame parts. Allied supplies schematics and torque information, but long-term owners should confirm replacement-part availability and whether their local shop is comfortable servicing the frame. FITZ uses several more familiar standards, including UDH and a conventional post-mount brake interface, although its suspension still requires normal scheduled service.
Allied will make the most sense for a rider who knows the fit and terrain they want, values custom paint, and is willing to pay for a build assembled around those preferences. Someone seeking a lower-cost complete bike, extensive local dealer inventory, mechanical drop-bar compatibility, or easy cockpit experimentation may find a larger production brand more practical.
