Vaude began in Tettnang, Germany—the same region that produced several outdoor innovators. From the beginning, the company focused on mountaineering and touring, later expanding into cycling and bike travel equipment.

Today, Vaude remains family-run under Antje von Dewitz (daughter of the founder) and employs over 500 people in its climate-neutral headquarters. The brand is one of the few outdoor companies to receive multiple EU Ecolabel certifications.
